Sault Ste Marie
Today I left the campground and went on an excursion to Sault Ste Marie to see the locks or the Soo Locks as they are called. I will call this an excursion because I left the RV and took the Jeep and did some dirt and gravel roads along the way.
It was fun to get out on these back roads and enjoy having the forest on both sides of me with a straight road in front and no one else there. Gee, you could just not imagine the freedom.
The terrain here is very flat and the roads are just as straight as an arrow. Life was good and then onto interstate 75 to Sault Ste Marie.
I visited the Soo Locks and also the Tower as it is called which gives you a really neat perspective of the city and the surrounding area. You can see across the water into Canada and the rapids which were the need for the locks.
Upon arriving back at the campground I saw about seven swans out on the lake. How peaceful it is here on Lake Michigan.
I also got to post some internet stuff at Burger King in Sault Ste Marie and that was nice and talking to Bev on the phone. Sounds like everything is doing well at home.
Lastly while in the city I visited one of the original Catholic churches and the courthouse which was built on the site of a Baptist Mission.
So now it is time for dinner and feeding the cat and his walk.
1 Long straight roads
2 Canaa from the US side of Mary River
3 Courthouse
4 Row houses that are typical
5 Swan at the campsite
