Benton Harbor and St. Joe

St Joseph Michigan and Benton harbor
I drove down yesterday to Benton Harbor and St. Joseph or St Joe as people here call it. It was a lovely drive again thru mostly wooded highways and forest. There is appearing in some areas industry and here in Benton Harbor was the manufacturing base of Whirlpool. The y no longer make appliances here but they have their engineering plant here which is huge.
I visited overnight with my cousin Vivian or Vicky and her husband Bill. They both taught school here for many years till retiring (Vicky was an English teacher and Bill a Band and Music teacher). Their son Matt who is with the Michigan State Police joined us for dinner and we had a great time with memories of childhood adventures spent on the water on Lake Erie or Christmases with both of the families together.
I am leaving with lots of good memories and having spent a little time with family. I will be going towards Detroit and hope to stop at the Henry Ford Museum and then the Chrystler Museum across the road from it.
It is raining today and I hope that with travel it does not get to be too bad, but if it does I will just pull over and spend the night. So far on all of this trip I have not encountered really bad weather, thank goodness.
