Anchorage, AK
We arrived today in Anchorage and so far have been to the visitor’s center and to the Alaska State Museum. The museum was great and they had great exhibits of all of the peoples of Alaska and how and when they came here. From the first migration of Alaskan Indians who came with the ice age over the Berring Sea, to the Russians for furs, the gold miners for gold, the whalers for whale oil, the people wanting timber and other resources, the military, and finally those wanting oil.
We also went by where they make Ulu knives but they were not the kind that Bev wanted and looked at the fishermen at the river but no one was catching anything.
Next we scouted out where to have the vehicles serviced tomorrow and the laundry done. Should be easy to do as they are in close proximity to one another.
Lastly, we are out of internet service as I broke the Verizon unit that is my call up unit (and it is really smashed). There are no Verizon stores in Anchorage (I checked with the visitor center people) so tomorrow I will try to get on the internet and see what I acan do about getting another one shipped to me.
I still have to call Bob Reiter’s son tonight so that will be about all for now.
