Belize City
Today we are parked at the Old Belize Marina and overlooking the water and the harbor entrance. We have electrical and water but no dump so in the next two days I must find a place to dump. Camping is such a pleasure and dumping has got to be one of the greatest pleasures in a man’s life (:>).
Well today it is onto a hospital in Belize City where we will try to get Bev’s shot for hepatitis. Remember that in Mexico we had trouble finding a place to have that done. Next will be a short sightseeing trip in town and onto Angelus Press ( a place where hopefully we can get a map of Guatemala). Then to DHL and they should have the parts we ordered from the states there. Hopefully, they have cleared customs. And then a short stop at the market to reprovision and we shall either have dinner downtown or come back here.
I want to check out the charter possibilities of going out to the cayes (this is pronounced Keys) to do some snorkeling but there are no cruise ships offshore today (there were three of them yesterday) and so everything sort of shuts down here for that when they are not here.
Well back from our trip into town. First checked out the water taxi which will take us to Caye Caulker and from there we go on a snorkeling adventure. Could even be we will go down and feed the sharks. Next we had a delightful lunch at the Riverside Restaurant. This is owned by the family that make Belikin Beer here. They own most of Belize it seems and have a monopoly on beer here in Belize.
Then a little window shopping to kill some time and found a furniture maker (Mennonite, they are of German descent ) who had some really nice stuff made of Rosewood and it looked to me as if it was Guanacaste wood although he called it something else.
Well the package from DHL did not make it today so that means Monday afternoon. Well that means we will have to stay in paradise till Tuesday morning. So much for the movin on type of rolling stones.
Also, Bev has renamed our scooter TT for Tiny Tigre after Big Tigre the RV and Little Tigre the Jeep.
Bev did get her hepatitis shot today at one of the hospitals here in Belize. First you go to the hospital pharmacy and get the invoice for the injection. Next, onto the billing department to pay for it. Then back to the pharmacy with the paid receipt. Lastly, to the emergency room where the nurse administers the injection. Ah well, it’s all done.
Now if I can only get onto the internet sometime to post all of this.
