Quebec and Canada

Quebec and Canada one province or two countries
We have just left the province of Quebec which is a part of Canada. Sometimes you do not feel that you are in Canada but in New France. It is not just the language difference that is noticeable to an outsider but other things. In other parts of Canada such as we are in now the signs are in English but with French subtitles but not in Quebec where most of the signs are in French only.
They speak of their provincial parliament as the Parliament Nationale which may just be a term but the name Nacionale means to me an outsider National and then what does that make the national parliament in Ottowa?
When you are in Quebec you see the flag of the province flown everywhere with its blue and white fleur de Lece (SP?) . You do not often see the Maple Leaf National flag flown, as you do in other parts of the country.
The sign on all of the Quebec license plates if Je Me Souviens ( I remember) as if to say that they remember their past, which they should as any people should but do they think of themselves as Canadians or as Quebecois?
These are just the ramblings of someone who has traveled thru the countryside. Without a true knowledge of the people or their true feelings, but merely observations of an outsider.
