Mystic, CT to Boonton, PA
We left the fair city of Mystic this morning after doing the laundry and a stop at Mystic Pizza for a takeout house special. After all how could you pass up a “slice of heaven”. I did like the movie and am a fan of Julia Roberts. Then a short stop in Mystic for the bridge to be raised for boat traffic and then come down again. Here on the east coast you have a lot of draw bridges and swinging bridges to allow boat traffic up the rivers from the ocean.
Well we drove on Hwy 95 to the New York state border and then to escape going thru New York we have been on Hwy 287. It seems strange somehow to be traveling now south and west after always going north and east. The significance is that we are now headed homeward.
Last night I got a call on the computer from Vera and Gabe (daughter and son-in-law). It was so nice to have video and be able to see my grandson and granddaughter. They are growing up. It’s too bad Bev was in the RV and not with me as her feet were bothering her from all the walking at the maritime museum.
Today we are spending one of our few nights in Wally World (WalMart parking lot). There just are no campgrounds that we could find in this area that were still open at this time of year. The only real drawback is that we do not have our generator. Still not fixed and that is something I will have to attend to soon if we are to do this much more often. Hopefully after Philly I will be able to find an Onan dealer that can solve the problem.
Well no real sightseeing today other than the fall colors along the road. The coastline was in view some of the time and it was a nice drive other than the traffic in trying to circumvent NY.
So tomorrow we should easily arrive on the outskirts of Philly the home of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. I think it will take two days to see it all.
1 Riggers room
2 The Conrad training ship
3 Blacksmith shop
4 Knowning the ropes
